Dumaguete City also known as “The City of Gentle People” is the main seaport and capital of Negros Oriental, a province located at the southwestern part of the Visayas Group of Islands in the Philippines.
Dumaguete City is becoming more of a mainstream tourist destination these days and it's easy to understand why: it has exquisite architecture, a laid-back university town ambience, and a lovely concrete path along the seafront promenade shaded by acacia trees and coconut palms,. The seafront is lined with cafes, restaurants, bars and hotels, and is especially lively at dusk with the after-work crowd and then again towards midnight, when the serious nightlife begins. Dumaguete is also close to some of the country's best scuba diving and has opportunities for whale- and dolphin-watching, while the coast to the south boasts good beaches and some restful little native resorts.
One of the top destinations in the country especially for divers and nature lovers is Dumaguete City.
It is not only a place to reminisce the old Spanish times, rather it’s also a perfect summer getaway to relax and be in one with the wonders of the nature. This is a quaint and charming place, rich in history and culture, as well as in natural resources. Once you have visited this place your heart will always be here.
Diving and Dive Sites
Divers travel far and wide to see the beautiful dive sites of their marine paradise that we rightfully are very proud of.
Apo Island is constantly rated among the top 10 dive destinations in the world, so that alone is worth a visit to Dumaguete.
There are also a number of attravtive marine sanctuaries up and down the coastline from Dumaguete, Some of them you will have to pay a fee to use, especially the ones in the Dauin area.
